About Me
- GENDER: Female (She/her/hers)
- LANGUAGE: English, Russian
I work with adults and young adults, including college students, who are experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, academic or career stress, burnout, life transitions, and questions about identity and belonging. I especially enjoy working with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those navigating multiple cultures, languages, or identities. My background in linguistics has also shaped my interest in how language, culture, and our experiences influence the way we understand ourselves and relate to others. My approach is human-centered and collaborative, while drawing on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), particularly mindfulness and emotion-regulation skills. I appreciate having both practical tools and space for deeper exploration in therapy, and I adapt my approach to what feels most relevant to the person I am working with.
I am a Master's student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Drake University and expect to graduate in Spring 2027. I am also a PhD student in Applied Linguistics at Iowa State University, where I have taught undergraduate courses for the past five years. Teaching has been an important part of my professional life and has given me the opportunity to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and experiences. It has also strengthened my interest in the ways people communicate, make sense of their experiences, and grow through periods of change.
I value curiosity, lifelong learning, and the belief that there is always more to discover about ourselves and the people around us. Outside of counseling and school, I enjoy reading, walking, hiking, and gardening. Spending time outdoors and with the people I care about helps me stay connected to what matters in everyday life.
