About Me

  • GENDER: Female (She/her/hers)
  • LANGUAGE: English

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor that offers a client-centered, trauma-informed approach. I work with adults with varying levels of distress. I help clients explore and process what brought someone into therapy without judgement. I create a safe environment for clients to be heard and seen.

My career path started working with adults who have intellectual and physical disabilities when I was in high school and through college. I completed my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa. Since then, I have worked in a variety of settings, including corrections, outpatient for children, adults, and families, residential group home for trouble youth and in schools in the Des Moines area. While working in these different settings, I observed many individuals and families encounter trauma. To be better equipped to meet the needs of people I work with, I became trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to assist in the healing process. Another area I have become passionate about since having my daughter is the mental health of parents before and after the birth process. I have specialized training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS) from Postpartum Support International.

When not at work I enjoy being with my family, which includes my spouse, daughter and two dogs. I have picked up hiking and exploring. We love seeing new places. I also enjoy live music, farmers markets, yoga, all the festivals in the area, and learning new things. Right now I am (re)learning how to roller skate and ice skate with my daughter.
