About Me

  • GENDER: Male (He/him/his)
  • LANGUAGE: English

I am a licensed psychologist who works with adults to improve their mental health in areas of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, identity, career change and interpersonal disorders. My therapy approach starts with creating a safe and comfortable working relationship that allows individuals to share their thoughts and feelings without judgment. I work collaboratively with individuals to identify achievable therapy goals. I help individuals identify patterns in their lives that aren't working well and collaboratively identify different ways of being to achieve desired outcomes.

My clinical experience includes many years in university counseling centers as well as outpatient settings. I have provided counseling and therapy to adults of all ages and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and completed my clinical internship at Iowa State University. I have been a licensed psychologist in Iowa since 2006. In addition to therapy, I provide career counseling and assessment services. I am also a Professor of Counseling at Drake University.

I believe that most of us have the capability to impact and enhance our mental, emotional, behavioral and spiritual health through often small changes to our thoughts and actions. My approach to therapy is to create a safe and comfortable space that allows individuals to explore their cognitive and emotional patterns and then find ways to enact small behavioral changes. I strive to support individuals in making these small but often difficult changes in their lives. Outside of work I love to travel, read and spend time with my dogs.
