Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
About Me
- GENDER: Female
- LANGUAGE: English
I am a psychiatrist who works with children and adolescents to manage their psychiatric medications in an outpatient setting. My philosophy is to utilize medications only when other things have not helped. I am conservative in my use of medications.
I grew up in a family with nine children. Early on, I obtained degrees in speech pathology and audiology and worked as an audiologist for the Des Moines Public Schools for three years. This provided a solid background seeing young people in a school setting. I went back to school and attended the University of Iowa for nine years for medical school, residency and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. For more than 30 years since I have treated both children and adults in many different settings including outpatient and inpatient.
I have a wide variety of interests ranging from sports, nature and food, to theater and music. My family and I have visited all of the existing NFL stadiums as well as 49 out of the 50 states. I love going to National Parks.
