About Me
- GENDER: Female (She/her/hers)
- LANGUAGE: English
I work with individuals across a wide range of life experiences and concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship challenges, identity exploration, ADHD, life transitions, aging, menopause and perimenopause, chronic illness, and substance use. I have experience supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, including individuals experiencing gender dysphoria and those in polyamorous relationships. I also work with people who are looking to reduce or discontinue problematic substance use, individuals with histories of complex or chronic trauma, refugees, people living with HIV or other chronic medical conditions, and individuals with intellectual disabilities. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in harm reduction. I strive to create a space that feels approachable, supportive, nonjudgmental, and affirming. Depending on each client’s needs, I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am passionate about helping people better understand themselves, navigate difficult experiences, and build on their strengths as they move toward greater well-being and meaningful change.
I earned both my undergraduate degree and Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa and have worked as a therapist since 2008. For the past 10 years, I have worked within an HIV program and a community health center, providing care to individuals with a wide range of needs and life experiences. Earlier in my career, I also enjoyed program development focused on creating employment opportunities. This included helping launch an organic farm as well as a bookstore and coffee shop. Those experiences strengthened my appreciation for community, creativity, and the many different ways people can find purpose, connection, and support.
I recognize the privilege it is for people to share their stories and let me be a part of their healing and recovery. In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors, walking my dog and reading.
