The Mind and Spirit Counseling Center is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter.  This leader must enjoy the challenge of building upon a fifty-year legacy of quality mental health services, developing a stronger and more sustainable foundation, amplifying its mission, and growing funding support throughout the region.  This is not a clinical position.

Our clients include individuals, families, clergy, and congregations, and our services include counseling, psychological assessments, clinical training, and spiritually grounded renewal programs.

THE LEADERSHIP WE SEEK

We’re looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial leader who brings:

  • A proven track record of fundraising and donor engagement
  • Strength in business operations, budgeting, and team leadership
  • Passion for mission-driven impact, especially in mental health
  • An ability to inspire trust across diverse stakeholders — from staff and clinicians to Board members, donors, churches, and community leaders
  • A hands-on leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels as needed

You’ll work closely with a mission-focused Board and a dedicated staff of clinical and operational professionals to secure new resources, develop strong systems, and lead with vision and compassion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership

  • Shape and execute a strategic plan with clear goals, priorities, and accountability
  • Lead the Executive Team and staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and mission focus
  • Ensure high-quality operations, compliance, and human resource practices

Financial Stewardship

  • Oversee budget development, financial reporting, and long-term fiscal planning
  • Strengthen financial performance, develop sustainable funding streams, and identify opportunities for growth

Fundraising & External Relations

  • Lead major donor cultivation and support annual fundraising campaigns.
  • Represent the organization to community partners, congregations, civic leaders, and other stakeholders
  • Build visibility and credibility to position the Center for long-term success

Board Partnership & Governance

  • Build strong and trusted relationships, individually and collectively, with the Center’s Board of Directors.
  • Ensure Board development and governance practices

WHO YOU ARE

  • A seasoned nonprofit or healthcare executive with at least 5–10 years of leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success in growing revenue, building teams, and leading change
  • A skilled fundraiser and communicator who can tell the story of impact and invite others to invest
  • A systems-thinker who loves building structure and strategy for long-term success
  • Comfortable in faith-informed environments as well as secular settings, cognizant of the spiritual dimensions of healing
  • Equally skilled at setting vision and stepping into day-to-day functions when needed
  • A Master’s degree in business, nonprofit management, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred
